Research integrity

Although it is our experience is that collaborating with colleagues around the world on topics of global importance for the field of traumatic stress is extremely rewarding, productive and enjoyable, there may also be instances where individuals are unhappy with aspects of the collaboration.

 

Therefore, the GCTS has five Research Integrity Officers (RIOs) who can be consulted in case of questions or issues around any aspect of research or scientific integrity. Find their bio and contact information below. The RIOs will treat any shared information confidentially.

Procedures

Members of the Global Collaboration of Traumatic Stress (GCTS) are committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and ethical conduct. Any suspected breach of research norms and standards, including research misconduct, will be handled in a safe and professional manner, and should be reported as follows:

 

1. Identify the Concern

 

Identify the nature of the concern. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Inappropriate authorship or data ownership practices

  • Fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • Other unprofessional conduct, including humiliation, harassment or bullying

2. Prepare Your Submission

 

Gather relevant information (and documentation) that supports your concern, namely:

  • A description of the alleged misconduct

  • Date/s and individual/s involved

  • Copies of communication (or data), where available

 

3. Submit the Concern

 

Send a confidential written request to one of Research Integrity Officer's (RIO) of the GCTS via email (find email addresses above)

Please include:

  • Your name and affiliation (anonymous reports will be considered but may limit the RIO’s ability to investigate) - your name will only be revealed if needed to undertake action and only if you agree to that.

  • A clear and concise description of the concern

  • Supporting evidence, where possible

 

4. Acknowledgment and Review

 

The RIO will acknowledge receipt of your report within 10 working days and initiate a preliminary review to determine whether further investigation is warranted.
